Try the US Geography Olympiad / International Geography Bee Qualifying Exam at Science Bee Regionals!

The National Science Bee’s Regional Finals will also include an opportunity for students to take the National Qualifying Exam for the US Geography Olympiad and the International Geography Bee. The same exam is held for both competitions. Students who score high enough on the exam then qualifying for the National Championships of both competitions, which will be held on the same weekend and in the same city as the National Science Bee National Championships in June 2019. At Nationals, the US Geography Olympiad is entirely exam-based, and the International Geography Bee is entirely buzzer-based.

Students who score at least a 75 on the exam are also then eligible to attend the biennial International Geography Bee World Championships, which will next be held in Summer 2020. Both the USGO and IGB feature Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions as well (with a separate National Championships on Friday, April 26, 2019 in Arlington, VA). Students who wish to compete in the Junior Varsity Division of these competitions need to qualify through a separate (and harder) National Qualifying Exam. These are offered during the lunch break at National History Bee and Bowl Varsity and JV level tournaments (see the map here for these) or with a school or community proctor by request through an email to enrico@geographyolympiad.com
